A large update to cleanup.

See the plan before you press Clean

Every take now gets its own Cleanup Plan. Tick a take in Assisted and a third column shows the steps Post will take, in order: small gaps first, then bigger ones, joins, jitter, and a final check of its own work. After the run the same list shows what happened to each step — Done, Not needed, Still waiting or Did not land. Nothing is hidden behind a spinner any more. See The Cleanup Plan.

Know how much work a take needs — before you start

Right after diagnosis, each take is rated Clean, Light cleanup, Significant effort or Hard, with a percentage headline per shoot day. Use it to decide where to spend your time: let the light ones run in the background and look at the hard ones yourself. See Cleanup forecast.

Jitter is now cut, not smoothed over

Short, sharp spikes — the kind you get from a marker mis-tracked for a frame or two — are removed and the trajectory is rejoined cleanly. You choose how sensitive this is, per project or per take. Two rules stay in place always: Post never creates a spike it did not find, and a repair can never move a marker faster than a human body can move. See Jitter.

Fills that land

Gap fills now match the speed of the marker on both sides, so the join does not jump. A marker that flickers in and out is filled as one stretch instead of many small ones. And if Post cannot fill a gap well, it leaves the gap and tells you — a hole you can see beats a fill you cannot trust. See Fills, seams and holes.

Repair details name the measured frames a fill replaced

Filling a flicker run in one pass means a few frames your raw take still shows get replaced along with the gaps. The region card on After now says how many measured frames a fill took over, and expands to list each stretch: the frames, the check that consumed it, and how far the fill ended up from the samples it replaced.

Gaps that could not be repaired are explained

Review used to describe every remaining hole as the performer leaving the capture volume. It now tells a genuine exit apart from a capture dropout and from a section that was never assessed, gives the count, frames and duration for each, and says where to find them — and that re-cleaning will not fill them.

Your file stays your file

Cleaned C3D exports are written by patching your original file, so channel order, parameter groups and analog data stay exactly as your pipeline expects. The export dialog tells you what format was written and, if it differs from what you uploaded, why. One click reverts any region to the raw capture. See Supported formats.

Long takes finish

Diagnosis and cleanup now get up to two hours each. Long, multi-performer takes that used to stop at ten or thirty minutes now run to the end.

Straight answers

  • When a take cannot be cleaned — for example a solved skeleton with no marker cloud, or nothing in it that could be identified as a performer — the Data, Run and After screens show the reason in the cleaner's own words, and stop offering a retry that would be refused the same way. A take whose diagnosis failed now has a Re-diagnose button that actually re-runs it.
  • An expired sign-in returns you to the sign-in screen with the reason, instead of drawing an empty workspace that looked like your projects and takes had disappeared.
  • Take registration and upload-ticket requests are checked against the published API schema, so a missing, blank or misspelled field comes back as a message naming that field rather than a server error with an empty body. If you script against the API, note that a body carrying a field the endpoint does not accept — including the read-only ownerId — is now refused instead of quietly ignored.

Upload and Data screen corrections

The first project you create keeps the name you type, instead of splicing it into the placeholder text. Deleting a take updates the project's take count in the left rail straight away. And an empty Data screen now says whether there is nothing there yet or a filter is hiding it, with the next step either way.

The in-app release note from this date.

  • Repair details name the measured frames a fill replaced. When a marker drops in and out repeatedly, Post fills the whole run in one pass — so a few frames your raw take still shows get replaced along with the gaps. The region card on the Review screen says how many measured frames a fill took over, and expands to list each stretch.
  • Smoother fills for markers that flicker in and out. Those runs are filled as one continuous stretch where the surrounding capture supports it, and the repaired trajectory no longer jumps where the fills met. Where it does not, the gaps are still filled separately.
  • When a cleanup cannot run, you get the real reason. A refused take shows that reason in the cleaner's own words, and no longer offers a retry that would be refused the same way.
  • Gaps that could not be repaired are explained. A genuine exit, a capture dropout and a section that was never assessed are told apart, with counts, frames, duration and where to find them.
  • An expired sign-in says so, instead of drawing an empty workspace.
  • Upload and Data screen corrections — the first project keeps the name you type, take counts update immediately on delete, and an empty Data screen says whether it is empty or filtered.
  • Clearer answers when you register takes through the API — a missing, blank or misspelled field is named in the message.

The in-app release note from this date.

  • Three views on the Before screen. Regions, Curves and Takes. Regions lists a take's flagged problems worst-first — pick one and the viewer and charts jump straight to it, and the [ and ] keys step through the list. Curves puts the take's markers worst-first next to their curves. Takes keeps the rest of the batch one click away.
  • More room for charts on smaller screens. On a laptop screen the 3D viewer gives up some height so the charts stay readable, and the analysis panel can expand to fill the window while you study a curve. Esc closes it again.
  • The viewer opens on the first problem. Opening a take on Before or After lands the playhead on the first flagged frame instead of frame 0.
  • Exports say when the format changed. If your file could not be written in the exact format you asked for, the export screen and the take's version history tell you what was written instead and why. When nothing changed, they stay quiet.
  • Sideways multi-performer takes. Captures with more than one performer could appear lying on their side in the 3D viewer. They now come in upright — including takes uploaded before this release, which correct themselves automatically. No re-upload needed.
  • No made-up data for unlabelled marker clouds. If a take has nothing safe to clean, it says so instead of producing a fake result.
  • Review and export polish. The Raw / Clean / Overlay buttons show when a view is still loading instead of appearing to do nothing, stepping through problems no longer gets stuck on a long region, and export notes no longer repeat the same reason twice.
